Eka Merchant App

Digitise commodity transactions

Current Scenario:
Commodity transporters and storage facilities in Australia have been managing their contracts as well as the transactions manually on books, physical files etc for years. The idea of digitising the whole process and tools was the way forward to improve quality of information as well as efficiency of the process.

Research Conducted:
- Stakeholder interviews.
- Merchant interviews.
- Analysis of the current tools and processes
- Verify amounts of data to be digitised
- Accessibility and device availability

Idea and Process:
The basic idea was to simply convert every paper based records to a digital one that can be accessed by merchants digital on a computer.

But with merchants and farmers travelling, being in different parts of the country in different warehouses, the idea of only moving data and records to a computer wasn’t enough. Therefore the decision to move everything onto cloud, access the data, create contracts and manage the transactions from anywhere using a mobile device was the final idea.

Final Outcome
The final outcome was a simple mobile application linked to the database that would allow the users to manage different commodity contracts as well as transactions anywhere they are even under the circumstance of no internet access.
